I took my Honda CBF250 for its MOT test today. This is the
UK annual vehicle inspection test. Cars & bikes require to take this test after
three years then yearly thereafter. The test costs £29.65 (US$44). So I set of
for my test and at the first corner I applied the rear brake and the adjusting
nut stripped its thread and fell off. What's the chance of this happening on the
very day of the test on a bike I ride all year? I rushed back to the house and
fitted a nut to hold the adjuster on.
The bodge
For non-UK readers - an MOT test certificate. MOT = Ministry
of Transport. This has not existed since 1970 but the name remains.
Yikes.
ReplyDeleteLuckily we live in an area of Oregon that does not require any inspections. Some of the larger areas require exhaust emissions testing yearly though.
I've no problem with the test if it helps keep dangerous vehicles off the road. It would be a pain if you run a lot of bikes or don’t do many miles per year.
DeleteYou certainly put the miles in on that 250!
ReplyDeleteYeah, 11,000 miles in 2012! and I was using the FJ as well.
