Scottish Speedway Museum - Part#1

At the start of this month I visited the speedway museum located in a precast concrete works in Loanhead in the south of Edinburgh. I wasn't expecting much but it was superb place with a huge collection of bikes in immaculate condition. An excellent day out even if, like me, you don't have a great interest in speedway.

The place was jammed full of bikes

1929 James V twin

1939 Excelsior "in action"

1930 Francis Barnet with 175cc Villiers two stroke engine

1973 Jawa Ice Racer

You don't want to be run over by this bike!

You've got to be kidding!…

 ..rocket boosters?

1960 Nyholm with JAP engine

 1939 Scott

Vincent engined Vampire from 1947

Cinder and shale from tracks around the world.

    1. The place was a big surprise. I'd never heard of it previously and it's only open on a few occasions during the year. There are over a hundred bikes all in "as new" condition - not a speck of dust between them. More cool bikes coming in part two.
