I Do Like To Be Beside the Seaside

Last Wednesday I had a pleasant run to the coast of Ayrshire & Galloway in Southwest Scotland.

Ailsa Craig is landmark that can be seen from everywhere on the Ayrshire coast. It’s an island formed from a volcanic plug. Granite quarried there was used to make curling stones.
These guys in Girvan wouldn't give me peace to eat my chips!

The sea can be cruel. This is a memorial to a crew lost near Lendalfoot.

A German couple were touring in this luxury motor home, with a Smartcar behind.

  1. How come that the beaches are not packed with people? Beautifully empty!

    1. Yes, high summer and no one about. They've probably all gone to Spain or Greece on holiday!

  2. I love the bright blue sky and sea pictures.

I think those seagulls wanted your chips. At least they weren't fighting you for them. They can be pretty aggressive here.

    1. A lot less sea than I usually find because the tide was out. The tidal range here is about 3 metres - I don't know if that's a lot.
