Great Yorkshire Show

This week we visited the Great Yorkshire Show. This is England's biggest agricultural show. It's not far from home in Harrogate, one of our favourite English towns. Among the cows, sheep & horses there were some bikes.
This one caught my attention. It's a Chinese copy of an early '70's Honda CB125. This bike means a lot to me. When I was 17 in 1974 and working in a local factory a guy gave me a pillion home on his little CB. With the money I earned over the summer I bought a Yamaha CS5E 200cc and so my biking career began.
Triumph had a stand at the show. Here are some of their "modern classic" range.

The sporty Thruxton R

A Bonneville T120

Is that an Amal Monobloc carb? - of course not! it's fuel injected. The Thruxton & Bonnie use the new 1200cc twin. A very nice looking engine. Retro and very compact for its capacity.

A 900cc Scrambler with a Vance & Hines exhaust.

I caught a show by the Bolddog freestyle motocross team. This is their "three in the air" stunt. http://www.bolddog.com/team_show.html

They use Honda CFR450 motocrossers but also kiddies CFR110 for their "hoop-the-hoop" stunt.

Their truck acts as a landing ramp meaning that they can set up their show in a few minutes (from their website)

A show we always try to catch is the Ben Potter's birds of prey. He tells some great tales of training the birds. Here is his huge Steller's Sea Eagle.

  1. Nice to see so many bikes at an agricultural event.

The birds of prey would be really neat to see in person. Those things are huge.
